Labs (beta features)
Try features that are still in development, and learn what to watch out for before you turn them on.
2 min read
The Labs page lists beta features that aren't yet switched on for everyone by default. You can try a new view or tool early from here. Beta features can be useful, but they aren't finished: they may change, contain bugs or be removed.
Turning a feature on or off
- Open Settings → Labs.
- Read the description of the feature you want to try and turn it on with the switch on the right. If you don't like it, turn it off with the same switch.
Heads up
Beta features are usually switched on for the whole account, so everyone on your team sees the change. Don't turn on a new feature during a busy campaign or a week full of procedures. Try it on a quiet day first and let your team know.
Things to keep in mind
- The list changes over time; the examples in this article may not appear in your account.
- When a beta feature becomes permanent, it leaves the Labs list and appears in the normal menu.
- If something unexpected happens after you turn on a beta feature, turn it off first, then message our support team on WhatsApp.
- Some Labs features may relate to modules that aren't in your plan; these won't change anything for you.
Questions to ask before turning on a beta feature
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which screen does this change? | If your team sees an unfamiliar screen, patient replies can slow down. |
| Who is affected? | Most beta features are switched on for all users. |
| Can I go back? | Usually turning the switch off is enough, but data created while it was on may remain. |
| Is this a busy period? | Avoid changes during campaign and procedure weeks. |
A suggested way to trial a feature
- Turn the feature on at the start of a quiet working day.
- Ask one team member (e.g. Elif Kaya, an Admin) to try it out for the day.
- At the end of the day, review it briefly with the team: did it speed things up, did anything break?
- If it helped, leave it on and send the team a short note; if not, turn it off.
Common issues
I can't see the Labs menu. This page may only be visible to users with the Admin role.
A feature I turned on has disappeared. It may have become permanent, or the development team may have withdrawn it.
