Conversation providers
Choose which provider sends the SMS and emails you write from Conversations.
2 min read
The Conversation Providers page decides which service delivers the SMS and emails you send from the panel. For most clinics the default (the MedicalGrow phone system and the MedicalGrow email service) is the right choice, so only change this page when you have a specific need.
Check your default providers
- Open Settings → Conversation Providers.
- Check the default provider under SMS. If you have a MedicalGrow number, the MedicalGrow phone system should be selected.
- Check the default email provider under Email. If you've verified a dedicated sending domain on the Email services page, emails go out from that domain.
Heads up
Changing a provider changes which number and domain your messages are sent from. A wrong choice can stop messages from being delivered at all. Check with our support team on WhatsApp before changing anything.
When should you change it?
Most clinics never touch this page. Typical situations that need a check:
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| You've just bought your first MedicalGrow number | Check that the SMS provider is the MedicalGrow phone system. |
| You've connected your own domain for email | Check that the email provider is the MedicalGrow email service and the domain is verified. |
| You previously used another email service (SMTP) | Plan the switch with our support team; don't run two services at once. |
Example
Aura Dental Clinic bought a +44 number for patients from the UK. For coordinator Zeynep Arslan's SMS from Conversations to go out from that number, the SMS provider just needs to be set to the MedicalGrow phone system. Which number the message is sent from is chosen with the sender selector in the conversation screen.
WhatsApp and social channels
WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook messages aren't managed on this page but through integrations. For setup, see WhatsApp Business API and Facebook & Instagram.
Common issues
SMS can't be sent. The selected provider may not have an SMS-capable number. Check the number's capabilities on the Phone system page.
Emails go out from the old address. Make sure your dedicated sending domain is verified.
